About CHOP

The Culinary Historians of the Philippines (CHOP) is a non-profit sister organization of the Culinary Historians of Washington, D.C. (CHoWDC). We are not historians in the academic or scholarly sense; we are students of culinary history who want to give back to society through culinary-based programs. Our mission: To study, promote, and help preserve the history and heritage of Philippine cuisine and culinary customs/traditions; to implement advocacy programs; and to study the cuisines of other countries. Happy New Year to everyone and wishing you a memorable turnover.

Our first event for 2016 is both a food trip around Quezon City and we will end up with our annual meeting at Serye and have a traditional merienda before heading home.

As it will be our annual meeting, we would like to seek the proxies of those who will not be able to make it.  This is to ensure that we will have a quorum.  Please fill in and email.  As in the past, we accept email proxies.  You may just email this filled in proxy to me at any time.

This is the itinerary:

- Merienda at Serye

We end 2016 which an 80% increase in membership.  In January 2015, we had 46 members, now we are 83 in total.  The increases in membership came mostly from post event signups after enjoying themselves as guests.  We do hope that the new members continue on with their membership in 2016.  This is the biggest increase since I joined CHOP 3 years ago.

Lastly, we are now accepting the annual membership fees for 2016.  If paid today (the last banking day of the year), there is an early bird discount of 450.  Come January, it will be back to 500.  You may deposit this to our BDO account.  For those that have already paid, thank you very much.  If you aren’t sure if you paid already, send me an email and I will confirm it.

Account name:  CHOP
